You may remember that we recently had a Fawlty Towers tribute at our Brighton Hotel during the Brighton Fringe Festival. After its huge success, Thistle Brighton is back this time with Ello Ello! The Dinner Show a tribute to the original BBC One sitcom Allo Allo! which aired 1982 – 1992.
For those of you unfamiliar with the show, it is about René Artois, a café owner in the Nazi-occupied French town of Nouvion, whose efforts to appease a range of opposing factions without being killed provide the unlikely scenario for comedy of all sorts. The show was a parody of all the war-based film and TV dramas at the time, but in particular of the BBC1 drama Secret Army, which ran from 1977 to 1979 and dealt with the activities of Belgian “escape line” workers who returned crashed allied pilots to Britain, based at a café in Brussels.
The show was famous, among many things, for its hilarious accents and stereotypes of nationalities, as well as for catchphrases like Officer Crabtree’s “Good Moaning!”
All of this will be recreated at Thistle Brighton and you’ll be able to enjoy it along with a 3 course dinner every Saturday during July and August for £45. You can also WIN a pair of tickets by liking our Facebook Page.
