The clocks have been turned back, the coats are on…as we welcome the shorter winter days, we’ve picked our favourite family events in London taking place in the lead up to Christmas. From ice skating to sing-a-long cinema, we’re confident these suggestions will leave the whole family feeling festive. 

Natural History Museum Ice Rink

Glide across the beautiful ice rink at the Natural History Museum, surrounded by fairy lights and frost-covered trees, and experience some serious festive magic. Breathe in the aroma of roasted chestnuts and mulled wine, and take in the backdrop of the breathtaking Waterhouse Building. Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

A true Christmas extravaganza,  at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, you can find everything from winter markets, delicious street food, not one but two circuses, an observation wheel and a Magical Ice Kingdom, along with themed bars for the grown-ups. Opening November 22nd until 6 January 2019, entry is free although most attractions inside are ticketed.. don’t forget to wrap up!

Kew Gardens

Now in its sixth year, Christmas at Kew Gardens is something both Londoners and visitors alike flock to see every year – and with good reason! Amazing light shows set to music, enchanting illuminations and a host of festive treats make this a sure-fire winner when it comes to feeling festive. Highlights this year include a Cathedral of Light, 300 glowing origami boats on Kew’s glistening lake and a show-stopping Palm House finale. From 22 November 2018 to 5 January 2019. 

Southbank Centre’s Winter Market

Feel festive beside the River Thames this winter at Southbank Centre’s legendary Winter Market. With seasonal goodies, sparkling lights, and a host of pop-up drink and food stalls, you’ll definitively be feeling festive after a little riverside wander along the cute alpine chalets.  This market is open Friday to Sunday over six weeks leading up to Christmas and the New Year from 9 November to 27th December 2018.
