On the 15th of September six staff members from Thistle Kensington Gardens and Thistle Hyde Park took on a challenge to climb the highest mountains of England and Scotland. The idea was not only to reach the summits, but also to fundraise money for their chosen charity.
Although the preparation for the trek started few months in advance, the challenge was much harder then initially anticipated, and unfavorable weather didn’t make it any easier. They started the trek when it was still dark, and the constant rain showers made the surface dangerously slippery. This resulted in numerous injuries, as broken ribs and twisted knees were almost impossible to avoid.
Despite all the difficulties and adverse weather, the brave group of six managed to conquer both mountains in one day and climb over 2,300 meters.
Thistle staff are committed to making a lasting difference for local communities through charitable donations as well as promoting corporate social responsibility through fundraising, therefore all the donations collected on this occasion went to Springboard Charity to support their initiative to improve perceptions, promote the industry as a great place to work and help attract fresh talent. They raised over £1,500 so far.
