¡VAMOS! Festival (14 June-14 July)
¡VAMOS! is a festival that celebrates Spanish and Portuguese speaking cultures in the area. Additionally there are events throughout the year alongside the festival programme. ¡VAMOS! combines cuisine, art, film, theatre, dance, music, literature, fashion, sport and education. It offers an international festival appealing to artists, partners and mainstream audiences that is unconstrained by art form, age-group or regional location.
SummerTyne Americana Festival (19-21 July)
SummerTyne Americana Festival offers a sizzling gumbo of American roots music – from fiery tex-mex to classic country and blues, the newest southern soul and Americana, then some down-home cajun and bluegrass. Taking place on the south side of the River Tyne, in and around the iconic music venue The Sage Gateshead, it promises a selection of the best Americana music in one of the most stunning city locations in the world!
Celebrate the bank holiday in style on Friday 24th August with the CHUF charity race night at Newcastle Racecourse. This wonderful fundraising night will kicks off with a Champagne reception at 4pm, followed by a superb Grand Buffet. There are seven sponsored races. Through this event the CHUF Charity Race Night aims to raise money to keep the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne at the forefront of children’s cardiac care.
Middlesbrough Literary Festival (15-29 June)
The fifth Middlesbrough Literary Festival which runs from 15-29 June, returns with a variety of events for the entire family taking place at Middlesbrough Central Library throughout the day and a spectacular spoken word, music and comedy cabaret on the evening. Festival highlights include bestselling author Kathy Lette, radio and television legend Andy Kershaw and Middlesbrough-born playwright and Teesside University’s Master of Literature Wally K Daly.
This year’s Cleveland Show will be held in Stewart Park in Middlesbrough on Saturday 27th July 2013 from 9am to 5pm. This year the Main Ring Attraction will be James Dylan Motorcycle Stunt Team.
There will also be all the usual classes for Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Show Jumping, Vintage Machinery, Dogs, Cats and many more.
Billingham International Folklore Festival (10-17 August)
Billingham International Folklore Festival, now in its 49th year, is the largest festival of its kind in the UK and one of the oldest festivals in Europe. This annual 8-day long festival, which will take place from 10th to 17th August 2013, celebrates the diversity and richness of traditional cultures, as well as contemporary dance companies, from across the world by bringing together over 300 dancers, musicians, singers and craftsmen to promote and demonstrate their artistic work.
