The MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship’s midsummer party at Brands Hatch (this weekend – 19-21 July) is one of the most popular events of the year, taking place at the sport’s spiritual home. The riders head out onto the Grand Prix loop for the first time this year on Saturday, with plenty of action out on the long straights and fast corners, before heading into the carnival atmosphere of the Indy section. A packed support programme of races plus demos, displays and live musice will also provide superb entertainment throughout the weekend – don’t miss the biggest event of the summer!
British F3/GT Championships
Brands Hatch (10 – 11.08)
The British F3 and GT Championships return to the legendary Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit. British F3 is a renowned proving ground for future F1 competitors, with Jamie Alguersuari, Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne all graduating to F1 having competed in the series in recent years. Expect to see future F1 stars in action! The British GT series pitches a mouth-watering collection of exotic supercars against each other, and is one of the strongest championships of its kind in the world. Featuring Ferrari 458s and McLarens, as well as machinery from Porsche, Chevrolet, Mercedes, Aston Martin and Ginetta, it’s one of the most expensive grids on the planet!
Cancer Research Race For Life

Ladies! It’s time to show cancer who’s in charge at Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. There are over 200 types of cancers and we won’t give up until we find cures for them all. It’s fighting talk, but we mean every word we say. Cancer, we’re coming to get you. Join in this year’s Race for Life and show cancer who’s boss. Come along and run, walk, dance or sponsor – together we will bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.
Magna Carta – 800th Anniversary
St Albans (August)
2013 marks the 800th anniversary of a meeting in St Albans that started the journey leading to the sealing of Magna Carta in Runnymede in 1215. At the Museum of St Albans from 1st June you can find out what motivated the barons and clergy to formulate their demands to King John. Over the weekend of 2nd-4th August the city will commemorate the events of 1213 in a number of venues, including the Museum of St Albans, Verulamium Park, the medieval city centre and St Albans Cathedral. Don’t miss Manga Carta – a retelling of the Magna Carta themes of injustice and the fight for freedom in the style of Japanese Manga comics, on display at the Museum of St Albans in August.
