Scottish Open 2013 (11-14th of July)
There is no better time to visit Aberdeen and Inverness, than the beginning of July, when The Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open returns to Castle Stuart Golf Links! Castle Stuart will host the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open for the third successive year from July 11-14, 2013. In 2014 Royal Aberdeen will stage an event on The European Tour International Schedule for the first time from July 10-13 over the classic Balgownie links. Scotland offers the very best links golf in the world, and confirmation the Scottish Open is to remain on a coastal course will help the tournament build on its prime position in the golfing calendar by continuing to attract some of the world’s top players preparing for the rigours of The Open Championship.
Stonehaven Folk Festival (11-14th July)
If you’re not into golf, you might consider heading to Stonehaven for some quality folk entertainment. Stonehaven comes alive with a weekend Festival of music including concerts in the Town Hall, workshops, Ceilidh, sessions, free afternoon concerts, Family show, Tradition Bearers Concert, Acoustic Youth Stage and more. The festival atmosphere creates a real buzz of excitement around the town. During the festival you can also witness two amazing events unique to Stonehaven: The World Paper and Comb Championship and The Aqua Ceilidh in Stonehaven’s heater Open Air Pool!
2013 UCI Juniors Track World Championships (7-11th August)
In August 2013 Glasgow’s Sir Chris Hoy’s Velodrome will host the 2013 UCI Juniors Track World Championships. Competing over 5 days from 7th - 11th August the future stars of track cycling will take to the circuit that will host track cycling during the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Riders will battle for world titles across a range of race disciplines at speeds in excess of 85 kilometres per hour. Watch as the next generation of track cycling greats make their bid for glory and the coveted rainbow jersey.
Loch Lomond Highland Games (13th July)
There’s nothing that stirs the blood like a bit of competition is there? Well why not take part in the Loch Lomond Highland Games? The games are situated at the southern end of Loch Lomond in the middle of the quiet village of Balloch. They were created in July 1967 by a group of local businessmen who were anxious to promote the area and restore its popularity with local people and tourists alike. Definitely a great day out on the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond.
