For a crown, you need jewels.

Our Crown, however, has recently been fitted with several stars, making it sparkle even more than before in the Cardiff night.

If you have  indulged before in the creations of the Crown Social Restaurant at The Parc by Thistle in Cardiff, you might agree with the AA’s independent restaurant inspectors who awarded two prestigious AA rosettes to the restaurant last week – just two months after its opening.

Martin Blunos, our former Michelin-accredited celebrity chef (read our previous blog about his favourite Easter recipe here), heads the restaurant, which is situated in the city centre of the Welsh capital. The whole menu is focussed on fresh and local produce and contains several contemporary takes on traditional Welsh dishes.

A very special aspect of this restaurant is its unique ‘sharing’ concept: diners are encouraged to sample different tasting plates together, making the perfect excuse for a romantic dinner or a fun, social dine-out with friends.

Both Martin and his team, including Sous Chef Lance Keirle, were praised by the AA inspectors for their ‘fine cooking’ and were awarded a standout score of 92% for their dishes. An impressive AA merit score of 85% was given to the restaurant, which meant it retained its 4 star rating. In particular, the staff scored highly in the service category, achieving an overall service score of 90% and attaining the maximum 5 star qualifier rating.
