You may know from previous posts that we have been involved with the Springboard Charity for quite a while. Springboard provides education and relevant support services to help young people, the unemployed, and disadvantaged groups prepare for work in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry.

We are very proud of our activities with them which have ranged from welcoming young people to get work experience at our hotels, to running marathons, organising cyclathons and  cupcake decorating classes, and even doing a parachute jump!

So how did we do?

After three months of dedicated fundraising activity throughout our 38 hotels, we raised over £100,000! Thistle Brighton raised the highest individual amount, with special Mother’s Day lunches helping raise over £10,000 alone.

Our guests also had the chance to donate every time they checked out of our hotels by adding an extra £1 to their bill. With a little help from Manchester United’s Manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who supported the scheme,  guests responded in earnest and helped raise the final total of £100,021.00 through their generous donations – the final £21 was added by the group to recognise The Springboard Charity’s 21st anniversary celebrations.

We are very proud to have been part of this effort and want to thank all our guests and staff for making this happen.
