The world famous three day Aintree Festival took place from Thursday to Saturday last week. With day one being newly named as “Liverpool Day”, the hotel was full to capacity with race goers all hoping for a successful day down at the racecourse.
Day two of the festival was by far the most attended and biggest social event in the Liverpool events calendar. Yes, you may have guessed it: “Ladies Day”. Ladies Day at Aintree is the biggest and best social event in town, which also the management staff of The Atlantic Tower by Thistle Liverpool did not want to miss and so decided to mingle with our top corporate clients.
For that day in particular, the ladies of Liverpool again spent hundreds upon thousands to get the right racing look. Style icon Colleen Rooney is renowned for her style within the city and along with Jeff Banks from Matalan they judge the style competition each year. Prizes for the lucky winner included a massive £5000 in cash, an Almond Resorts holiday in Saint Lucia for two, the opportunity to feature in a Matalan photo shoot, £500 for a shopping spree in Matalan, a £500 Totepool bet and £500 worth of benefit treats.
Yet, amongst the dressed-up crowd there is always the sensible lady race goer with a pair of stylish flip-flops to save her feet at the end of the day. Let’s face it, ladies, a full day in killer heels it not going to bode well with the feet.
Moving onto the last and final day, it was Grand National Day itself. We are proud to be able to say that we had one of the Grand National favourites horse trainers staying with us: W.P. Mullins. So it was time for us to show our support and get our bets on his runner The Midnight Club!
