Our next destination on our Road Trip leads us to London. As the city is so big and each area has so many different things to offer, we will do a stop at each of our Thistle hotels in the city. The first one is The Kingsley Hotel in London located in the heart of the city, close to the British Museum, Covent Garden, Oxford Street, the leafy squares of Bloomsbury and the West End.
Not many London hotels can claim a place in literary history. But The Kingsley certainly can. Named after Charles Kingsley, author of the classics Westward Ho! and The Water Babies, it was once home to EM Forster, one of the famous ‘Bloomsbury Group’, who worked on A Room with a View while living here.
In case the sun is hiding when you are in London, our suggestions for your itinerary are:
The Kingsley is literally minutes away from one of the greatest museums in London, home of historical and cultural collections from all around the world.
The National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square host great masterpieces and must-see paintings
The Kingsley is also close to the West End where you can enjoy incredible shows on reasonable prices (but don’t be lured by the box offices, go to the theatre on the day of the show and you are likely to get yourself a bargain)
For more extraordinary performances:
If the weather is nice, you should consider taking a stroll around Covent Garden and discover its Market and surrounding little stony streets full of pubs, theatres and shops
Finally, the Thames is also not too far away with its beautiful views to Westminster, London Eye, Tower Bridge and other symbols of London.
- Eating:
