There’s more to Liverpool than the Beatles. Get a taste of all of its flavours this weekend at the Liverpool Food & Drink Festival!

 

 

The Liverpool Food & Drink Festival is a week-long celebration of all things delicious in The Pool. The festival kicks off with a weekend launch event at Sefton Park on 1st and 2nd September, where celebrity chefs like Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood and Michelin star chefs Tom Kitchin and Aiden Byrne will be making appearances. Hollywood will judge the festival’s own Great Merseyside Bake-Off, which pits 12 amateur bakers against each other.

 

Did you know? Liverpool has its own signature dish: scouse, a meat stew traditionally made with slow-cooked lamb, carrots, onion, and potatoes, all served up with preserved beetroot, red cabbage, and bread. It’s a staple on local pub menus. Scouse is also the term for the distinct accent and dialect of Liverpudlians, also known as Scousers.

You’ll find much more than scouse at the Food & Drink Festival, which will be packed all weekend with wine tastings, cookery classes and demonstrations. New to the festival this year is an on-site pop-up restaurant hosted by award-winning The London Carriage Works, and the Heavenly Chocolate Garden, where visitors can take part in chocolate tastings, learn how to make truffles, or simply indulge in lots and lots of chocolate.
