The London Marathon is happening on Sunday this weekend – for many a reason to become slightly nervous as the day approaches. This year, the marathon bug seems to have bitten us as many members of our staff have decided to join this charitable event and run the 26.2 miles.
On Sunday at 11.00am, the Thistle Euston team is giving up their free time for the Springboard Charity to run the length of the London Marathon – though at a different location as they are bringing the marathon to Camden. As a team, in true relay style, they will be running, walking and generally just hoping to make it round, aiming to complete 175 laps of St James’ Gardens, next to Thistle Euston.
Our Thistle St Alban’s Operations Manager, Alan Shead has decided to take on his toughest challenge yet and run the marathon to raise money for the partner charity of the hotel, The South Herts MND Association. So if you are in London or watching on television, be sure to look out for shirt number 54252 and help cheer Alan on!
Are you going to run the marathon or do you have friends that are running who you will support with your cheers at the side of the road? Here’s a map of the route so you can catch a glimpse of it all:
If you are planning to participate in this or a different marathon in the future and want to start training for it, check out our previous post with lots of helpful tips on how to get started.
All that is left now is for the runners to do the last training preparations and for us to wish the Thistle Euston team, Alan and all other participants good luck with this challenge!
