While August is indeed coming to a close, summer’s not over yet! Head down to the Bournemouth Air Festival for a weekend of sea and sky.
Most people go to Bournemouth for the beach, but this weekend, you’ll want to keep your eyes to the sky. The Bournemouth Air Festival is one of the most popular events on the town’s summer calendar and this year’s lineup will feature air displays by eight flight teams, including the famous Red Arrows.
The Red Arrows, officially known as the Royal Airforce Aerobatic Team, are famous for their Diamond Nine formation and have performed for thousands of people all over the world. You might remember seeing their flypasts earlier this year at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the opening ceremony of the Olympics, where they left smoke trails of red, white and blue.
Other elite air teams performing at the Bournemouth festival include the Black Cats helicopters, the Breitling Wingwalkers, and the Tigers parachute display team, who will be freefalling from 10,000 feet with glow sticks to light up the dusk sky. There will also be nighttime musical performances by top acts including Newton Faulkner and 2010 X-Factor winner Matt Cardle.
As you can see, there’s lots of family fun to be had in Bournemouth during the festival, which runs 30th August to 2nd September. If you’re coming to Bournemouth from out of town, don’t forget that you can still take advantage of our summer offer at Thistle Poole, just a few minutes drive away.
