If you’ve never experienced the Great North Run, this year is the year to do so — Team GB Olympic hero Mo Farah will be making an appearance!

 

The Bupa Great North Run is the world’s second-largest half marathon and it takes competitors from Newcastle to South Shields every September. This year, the event will be held on 15-16 September, and will include a 5km run, as well as a 4km junior run and a 1.5km mini run. The main event will be held on the Sunday and a very famous runner will be at the start line: double gold-medalist Mo Farah.

 

 

Farah was a star at the Olympic track, winning both the 5,000m and 10,000m events for Team GB. He will battle champion marathoner Haile Gebrselassie for the North Run title.

 

 

The Great North Run, which began in 1981, attracts more than 50,000 people each year.Entry is still open for all events, so if you’re feeling inspired by the Olympics, here’s your chance to get active!
